It's time to harvest the chickpeas......on closer inspection it looks like I should have harvested a couple of weeks ago! I also check in on my dried beans....those I am saving for seed and the ones for eating over the winter.

You have such a sweet attitude about the mice. It even sounds autumnal there, as the wind stirs up dried plants and leaves: musical. For autumn projects, I found the local motherlode of free mulch this week. A local park has over 1000 tons of it piled up in a cul-de-sac, originally trees chipped super-fine, but more than a year of decomposition later, it's nearly compost, studded through with visible mycorrhizal fungi. It's like gold for gardeners, and I'm ridiculously happy about finding it. :D Wish I had a pick-up truck, but with saved plastic bags and my little car, I'll be able to ferry several tons here.

What a busy lady you been! a great harvest update, Vivi. I expect you got all the rain we had this weekend. I couldn't believe sunset today was at 6:15! "Winter is coming". Stay warm and dry ❤️🌾

I will try the trail of tears next year. Rusty being adorable but not scaring the mice!!

I love watching your videos. Although I am quite a bit older than you, our gardening styles and philosophies are almost identical. I only wish that we were “plot neighbors” so we could share the joys of gardening in person.

Lol! I must admit I have spent rather too much time running the Cherokee Trail of Tears beans through my fingers and not enough time podding them!

The deck and the deck chair look great. I remember when you made it and now it looks worn in a bit and very comfortable.

When you mentioned the flowers, I popped 8 more of my Hodmedods chickpeas in to soak for sprouting tomorrow :). (Sprouting before planting)

Excellent harvest, there, Vivi. I've just harvested more of my Madagascar beans and I sit there running my hands through them. Yummy stuff!

Awww Rusty was so enjoying a restful moment on your deck chair! 😉 Those mice, 🐭 they're little geniuses aren't they? They seem to know when produce is just right for the picking, so sorry Vivi. Back at you home, my goodness you have all kinds of little wonderful gems drying! Thank you for sharing part of your day with us, much appreciated! Until next one, take good care. 😊💗💗💗

Great video Vivi! Hungry little mice having a bouquet in your garden. When I lived in Texas I once moved a sheet of tin roofing from the ground and there was a huge nest of beautiful multicolored little fat mice. I've never seen or heard of fancy mice anywhere. I'm not sure a tame domestic mouse got released into the field and bred with wild ones. They were lovely and fat though. Reminds me of a series of books/movies by Mary Norton, "The Borrowers." They are on youtube to watch, UK versions and USA versions. Lovely series. / I too love to see, hear, and feel the seeds. There is a comforting level of wonderfulness with the sound, sight, and feel of them. (But don't try this with chili peppers.) Hugs!

Hi Vivi!!!! I love your garden. I saw another YouTuber thresh her beans by filling a pillow case walking them around to open the pods. Then she winnowed them in a breeze or with a fan.

Nice to see someone is enjoying that chair. LOL! Your bean harvest is amazing. Mine did great this year but, like you, my squash harvest was pathetic. We had snow covering the ground today which gets me in the mood for a pot of bean soup. YUM. :-)
