The 2016 and 2020 presidential elections were both marked by strong distrust in the integrity of election results by those whose preferred candidate didn’t win. Civic education has a crucial role to play in restoring trust in our nation’s democratic processes. AEI's Frederick M. Hess explains.

Civics education is very nice and important. I don't know who, but someone actually needs to hear this, you've got to stop saving all your money. Venture into investing some, if you really want financial stability

The main problem with politics right now, is that both sides see each other as a hostile foreign forces. And the victory of one or the other is the equivalent of being taken over

Yes, civic education is necessary, but it also would be nice to have trustworthy news media and equal application of the existing social rules and laws.

Caesar's rise was a consequence of decades of abuse toward the plebs by the ruling families of Rome. Had the working class in the US not experienced lengthy, bipartisan neglect, candidates such as Trump and Sanders would have no support.

The problems we have are deeper than lack of civic education.

💯 NO ONE should be allowed to graduate high school without passing a national U.S. civics examination!

The lack of civil, scientific, and critical thinking education in America is honestly astounding. People need to sit back and reevaluate their own bias, and how polarized polices have become when even public health has become a "political" issue.

Thank you for bringing attention to this critical issue in education! Civics education in elementary, middle and high school is essential to a healthy future for our students and our country!
