Mint's video has been referencing other devs, not Hailey. He even states it in his video.

And they rejected several former Halo Bungie employees before and said it themselves they were told they weren't looking to hire Bungie employees. "It's just not our time"

Based on the timeline, it seems they brought on Staten after Lee's step down to try and bring back hype after the disastrous demo and 343 hired him on. Then when 343 was going to abandon infinite, there was no more need for him. So they worked a deal with MS to hire him back to Xbox Publishing and probably got a huge payout.

Xbox might own 343. But hiring practices are still normal industry standard.

How this works is you smoothly massage it to executive types but basically say "take the money and have a job or dont and get laid off with no work" we all take the money. You're going to not work there anymore but at least you can provide for your family. Same done to others at 343 like Chris Lee and Bonnie Ross. You really believe she left for a family emergency?

It might not be a blatant fire, but it's how c-suites handle it. Nothing the lower end employees get. You just get laid off. I know many that work with multiple companies in the gaming industry. One works back and forth at 343 and Bungie and has switched 2 or 3 times. Though not old school Halo Bungie. So this isn't uncommon to find new work or get laid off and find a new job right away.

Also, I won't trust Halo mods on r/halo, r/halo is full of stan moderators who will let people dunk on Bungie halo, but do vice versa you will get banned.

Idk how much of that post can be trusted, but the part about him being laidoff was accurate. This was confirmed by someone I know who was working there at the time the mass layoffs happened.

I get the impression a lot of people still think of 343 Industries as a studio akin to what Bungie was. I used to think this as well.

343 Industries isn’t a studio, it's a development label for those who Microsoft has employed (or in most cases, contracted) to develop a specific Halo project. Once that project ships, that creative team is dissolved. The next game won't be made by those who made the last game and get to bring their lessons forward, it's made by the next team Microsoft cobbles together.

That's why there's so much turnover in creative and developmental roles after a game launches, but very rarely any shakeup in leadership or on the business side of things. (This isn't specific to 343, Microsoft, or even the gaming industry: this is a standard corporate practice.)

So to those saying Microsoft should fire 343 and let someone else make Halo, I have good news: this is *exactly* how Microsoft manages 343 Industries. The developers are shed and replaced between, and even during, production cycles. The name stays the same though, so that's naturally what people latch onto.

343 Industries isn't the problem, anymore than the arm is to be blamed for what the brain employed it to do. It's Microsoft. It's always been Microsoft.

Once I realized that, I stopped thinking "343 are incapable of making a good Halo game." Only now, in hindsight, my personal sentiment is more along the lines of: "I can't believe how much 343 has done for the franchise, both because of and despite Microsoft."

343 doesn't deserve Halo for The sheer fact that they will not allow bungie people in that would quite frankly respect what Halo is and continue its legacy. Bringing new ideas isn't terrible 343 but unwilling to hire people passionate about halo is completely on them. That is why Halo has failed in their tender.

I am a huge fan of Mint Blitz but his last couple videos have been based on pure speculation from non reliable sources such as the example you gave. i do also think when 343 leaves this void of any road map going forward this is what happens, toxic speculation which turns into the worse kind of content.

I get the Halo content drought is in full effect right now but that is not the way. I hate that half the community doesn't realize Hailey is a huge troll

6:17 what do you mean "Came Close a couple times" EVERY RELEASE 343 HAS DONE HAS BEEN TRASH. Except Maybe Halo wars 2. Like Halo infinite's gameplay? Sure? But overall the game was trash. Some of Halo 4s writing was good, but some parts were TERRIBLE. Halo 5 was all Terrible. Gameplay maybe got it right? Maybe? And MCC Launch was a Disaster. But to be fair it was the first time anything like that was done. But still.

I think he left for his own unique reason. But 343 isn't all good in any way they had multiple chances to make something great to only mess up down the road.
