Hello Socratica Friends! We’re here to help you be a great student. And being a great student doesn’t stop when the school day ends. There are some important steps to take to make sure you keep on being a great student when you get home. So ask yourself - do you have a great place to study at home, that keeps you focused?

Today we talk about how to pick an ideal spot to study, and what you need to do your work there. Does it have to be huge? No. Does it have to be fancy? No! All you need is a simple, sturdy table and chair. We’ll discuss what you need to have with you when you study, and what amounts to unnecessary clutter. We’ll take some cues from our hero of organization, Marie Kondo, as well as incorporate design principles and elements to enhance well-being, including Feng Shui. We also remind you of the importance of ergonomics. Are you slumped over in your chair? With a few adjustments, you can be a lot more comfortable and a lot more productive.

We referred to The Pomodoro Technique in this video. Here’s our video about it - it’s really one of our very favourite techniques, and we use it every day, even just in real life. TRY IT.

Sinto falta dos seus vídeos em português :(
Enquanto não os publica, acompanho em inglês mesmo. Seus vídeos são sensacionais!

I lived in a small house when I was a kid and my parents, lovely though they were, did not give me any space to study - they were always entertaining or had the TV on so the house was always really noisy. So when I was studying for my exams I used to set an alarm and get up at 5am to revise when the house was silent. I did really well but only because I set aside a quiet time to study. Do what you have to do, because nobody else is going to do it for you.

As always, great content. I've been working a lot on my home desk lately and I've discovered I'm the bare-desk-guy. Thanks Liliana and everyone at Socratica.

Most of that was pretty good but I have to disagree to setting a time limit, I have found it far more successful to set a goal (within reason) and not a time limit. I found that when grappling with new and complex idea's for me that breaks longer than a couple of minutes sets me back significantly.

As for a place to work/study, that is really a big one that I think is often overlooked but if there is anyway to do it then it is a great idea. It not only hopefully gives you the environment you need but it is also a mindset, this is where I work/study, that is all I do here. That mindset also helps me disengage when I walk away from my work area.
