Are You Thinking About Working in #BigLaw?
Показать описание
Can we get real for a minute?
The median base salary for first-year associates in 2024 is $225,000, per Big Law Investor.
That’s…..not an insignificant amount of money (even when you consider location and local job markets), especially for law school graduates who are probably carrying quite a significant amount of debt.
It’s no wonder why Big Law can look so attractive to law students and pre-laws, even those who go into law school with different aspirations. Many students have a “get in and get out” plan where they work a few years in Big Law, stacking money before leaving to pursue other law fields and their true passions.
Is one path better than the other? Nope! ✨ It all depends on your goals!
That said, if you do want to work in Big Law, get ready to put in the work 💪—before, during, and after law school! Some firms recruit the top students almost exclusively from the top law schools. And then, of course, the workload of Big Law associates is infamously heavy. Multiple reports have come out stressing the toll Big Law work culture can have on young lawyers. 😩
We’re curious—what do you think of Big Law? Do you dream of having your own corner office in a luxe high-rise? Or are you focused on pursuing a different career in law?
