How To Change A Window Regulator On A Smart Car !!!!

In this video I show how to fix a broken window regulator on a first generation smart city /fortwo 450 generation !!

For anyone doing this for a UK car (or just passenger door) the top cable goes to the outside of the drum reel and the bottom cable goes to the inside (opposite of this video)

Had to do it on my car today and spent ages wondering why it didn't tension until I swapped it over!

Other than that, fantastic video, super useful and saved us a month wait for the garage to do the job and costing us a fortune!

hi from Spain! good video. Few days ago my window did a very weird sound, as if the glass broked. Can it be the cable broken? what are you doing exactly on 11:06? I can see just a hole. What about 13:30.. was it easy to fit both springs? Will I need help from other person? In 15:50 how did you roll the cable into this plastic thing? Did you do it manually or used the button of the car to up down the window? I have read in some places that it is difficult to adjust where the window stop, but I dont see how you did that, is it difficult? I bought litium grease, is it ok to use in all the parts you add grease? what lenght of M6 bolt did you use? did you use this locite blue thing for locking bolds in any other bold or just this on? And last question.., why did you take of the interior door? I dont see you do anything inside? Is it necesary?

Super useful video but can I ask, why did you need to do this? I have an issue with my window going up over where it should normally stop, does that sound like the same issue or was your window not moving at all etc? Excellent video, many thanks!

does anyone happen to have the wiring diagram for a UK version of the 450? i have a cdn 450 and the lights in the front grill aren't fog lights, it doesn't even allow DRL's... the two lights inside the headlights on the UK cars that act as indicators are just dummies on my car. on the light stick, there is a setting for fog lights, but obviously it doesn't do anything. inside the car there is a connector that looks like it might be able to connect to the indicators lamps - there is a light bulb fixture (twist and turn) but it's been cut and sealed off. hoping it can do a bit of wiring to allow for fog lamps and move the signals up to the headlights. even a picture of the wiring going to the indicators would be helpful.

Also, why did you have to take the front of the car off? why couldn't you just remove the internal and external door panel?

You don't need to remove the grill and the front panels.
