This "song" has been a "hit" for longer than just about any other. It has been a source of comfort for hundreds of years, and it helped to forge a deep bond between my grandfather and me in the last years of his life (he wanted me to "compose" more!) I also played it for the death of his wife (my grandmother), and my own mother has requested that I play it for her when she passes on.

This piece seems to have a special power of timelessness, and can help make sense of a confusing and complicated world, a source of solidarity through the ages in grief -and the beauty and mystery of life.
