Akihiko was the only person to see that Ugetsu was extremely sensitive to emotions, despite his nonchalant demeanor. Ugetsu realized that it was him that stripped akihiko of his passion, but couldn't let go cuz he cant choose between akihiko and music.Akihiko on the other hand, could choose. Its implied that akihiko is more fluid than ugetsu. Akihiko isn't like ugetsu, he can live without both music and ugetsu. While ugetsu cant, both music and akihiko are his world. And he does not let go and wait for akihiko to do it-, its also why he hopes that at least "music will stay" by his side. Cuz thats all he has once akihiko leaves, when akihiko does leave him for haruki, it can also be understood that he lost half of his world- akihiko. Ugetsu doesn't show much emotion throughout the entire manga until that point. He always anticipated aki's departure, and prepping himself for the break up until it actually happened, & he finally able to express his emotions again.

I really like Ugetsu’s character. Their relationship had flaws and they were slowly drifting away, but I wish they could have solved their problems and made it work.

Even though they loved each other a lot, they had already lost each other long ago and now were only clinging to some hope that it’ll get better, but it just kept getting worse. I hope Ugetsu gets his own arc in the manga.

The number of times i replayed Ugetsu crying over akihiko walking away is countless. i think this is my second most heartbreaking anime scene. Ive cried too much him turning, him crying and lifting is hand towards Kaji. So perfectly timed.
