The snow fell so heavily one could practically hear the flakes thumping on the mountain. I was glad I hadn’t chosen Turtwig as my companion, for the eventual Torterra’s sake, but Infernape was having it hard even being a Fire-Type. I guess I could’ve had Sneasel protect me instead, but the poor little Pokemon was almost fainted. And for who I was facing, I needed every member of my team, whether or not they had much in them left. My gut went cold as I saw him. His eyes were locked on me, and only me, seemingly unaware of anything else around him. He wanted me gone. That was all. I was just a stupid little piece of annoying in the way of his grand scheme. I shivered, and not because of the chill. Chill never bothered me.
This man, if you could call him that, did.
“You imprisoned them. You imprisoned the three beings of spirit and tortured them into doing something against the very purpose of their existence.” I said, drawing on what little resolve I had left.
He shook his head. “You’re a little girl spoiled with such things. Haven’t you been able to see what weakness this brings upon us? Every member of my team, you see how they follow me blindly. You’re smarter than those fools. Why do you think they treat me as their lord?”
The little resolve I had left turned to rage. “I have something to settle here. *We* have something to settle here. Neither of us climbed this stupid mountain for nothing. Winner takes all.”
His face betrayed no emotion. Nothing. The one good thing I will ever admit about him is that he respected me as an equal in terms of skill. “I admire your decisiveness, courage, and bold words. But they only take us so far.”
I glanced at Wuju. My partner. My first partner of six. We’d taken each other so far, carried each other’s weight. “Wuju, we have a score to settle. One more fight. Can you do this for me? For all of us?”
Wuju nodded. It was...possibly the greatest thing I ever saw. I’d done so much to Wuju, put him through all of this. And he still trusted me. He still cared for me like I cared for him. It’s a bond you can’t break. We both knew we couldn’t screw up.
So we wouldn’t.

Happy 10th anniversary to this terrific remix! It's one of the most interesting takes on Coronet, and the Dearly Beloved segment almost always brings a smile.

Even after playing Pokémon Violet where the climax takes place in Area Zero, Mt. Coronet is still one of the most memorable locations in the mainline games for multiple reasons. Despite Gen 4’s high reliance on HM’s, it’s one of the most complex dungeons to traverse, while you’re making it to the top of Spear Pillar as this music plays. Then finally reaching the highest point of Sinnoh to confront Cyrus, and entering into the Distortion World to stop both worlds from being destroyed was the highlight of the last 3rd version game we got.
