Does this happen to you? You are almost finished speaking in English and you don’t know how to show that you’re finished. So you say, “Umm, that’s it.” Or “I don’t know what else to say.” Or, “I’m done.” Do you struggle with how to naturally finish speaking in English?

You’re not alone. In fact, this has become a common question among my Fluency School students. If they have that question, I’m sure you do as well.

The good news is, there are much better ways to show that you’re finished talking about your ideas or sharing comments. And when you do it correctly, it helps your listeners know they can start to talk.

This is an essential skill in English communication. This helps to create effective turn-taking. In other words, it helps everyone to participate in a conversation more easily, without any awkward silences.

In today’s video, I share with you 4 easy-to-use strategies to finish speaking in English with confidence.

1. I couldn't believe it with taking voice down shows you're finishing your conversation.
2. Same statement with high intonation expresses you haven't finished your conversation.
3. What a crazy day ! with high voice says conversation will keep continuing.
4. Same statement with voice falling down that you're done..

Am I right, ma'am?

For first example, I would take the first sentence as the end of conversation as it comes slow.
For the second, the first 'What a crazy day!' is just a beginning of his/her conversation.

You are so amazing. I really like your way which is so simple and effective.
For the challenge
1.By Slowing down your voice you finished the conversation
2. Same sentence, you raised your voice to show that you are starting a conversation

Sometimes I find myself wondering where do you get so much inspiration for such useful aspects that we only find here. I think the answer is simple . It comes from God and from your kindness and competence. Thank you . Congratulations!

Hi, Anne Marie: The first sentence: you want to add something. 2) you finished your speech. In the second example: 1) You finished your conversation. 2) You want to say more details about your day. Very useful, like always. Thanks!

Hi mam!
As usual great ideas n advice with which we go along!
To show we're finished speaking ( not to hold the ball ) we're recalled to turn down intonation or ask some questions or something else likewise.
Thanks a lot!
Keep doing the great job!

The first scenario the first statement was with falling intonation which indicates that you are ending the conversation. The second statement was with rising intonation which implies that you are not finished. The second scenario is the reverse.
