**LIVE AT KNEBWORTH**
The concert was part of the star-studded 1990 Silver Clef Award Winners performance at Knebworth House, in Hertfordshire, England, headlined by Pink Floyd.

The concert, in front of around 120,000 fans, was a fundraiser for the Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy Charity, and also included Paul McCartney, Genesis, Dire Straits, Eric Clapton, Cliff Richard & The Shadows, Elton John, Status Quo, Tears For Fears, and Robert Plant & Jimmy Page.

The Floyd set was performed by the touring line-up of the late 1980s, with a slight change to the vocalists - joining Durga McBroom was Sam Brown, her mother Vicki, and Clare Torry (original vocalist for The Great Gig In The Sky). Saxophonist Candy Dulfer and keyboard player Michael Kamen also joined the band for this one-off show. The audio has been remixed by David Gilmour and Andy Jackson, and following its appearance in 2019's The Later Years box set, is now available on CD or double vinyl for the first time as a standalone album.

I still remember the first time my dad said "God, it sounds like she's dying, " and it suddenly hit me what the heck the song was about.

A lot of people do not understand this live performance. As soon as I listened to it I realised what Clare Torry is doing, i.e. the same thing she did in the studio the first time she heard the piece. She improvised it then, and she's improvising it here as well. She is after all the original singer in the album.

Cryin' like a baby here. This is the only song I've ever heard that expresses the emotions surrounding death and grieving without ever uttering a single word. Brilliant.

So good to see Clare Torry recreating the original grandeur of this masterpiece. RIP Rick Wright.

The first time I listened to this, I couldn’t keep it in, I cried uncontrollably. I wasn’t sad, the song was just so beautiful and there was no other way of expressing my love and gratitude for music, yet alone this song. Pink Floyd is a piece of art.
I was 11 when I heard it and I was 11 when I found obsession with music

Saw her live at that very concert, it sent chills down my spine - everyone around us stopped and was stunned - no one said a word. The emotion she through into that performance brings tears to the eyes - sublime.

Even the first minute of a Pink Floyd song is enough to grasp all their greatness. A few bars of a piano, a simple and evocative harmonic interval, and you already know that you are listening to a classic of music. Then comes the slide of the guitar that opens up new scenarios, and you understand that you are facing a milestone in rock. Then you hear a voice saying "And I'm not afraid to die" followed by the melodious song of a woman and you no longer think of anything as you are transported to the other side of the mirror. You are listening to "The Great Gig in the Sky", one of Pink Floyd's masterpieces, one of the most famous and loved songs. A piece appreciated above all for its combination of music and voice, a rare symbiosis in the genre. Telling its genesis, not at all trivial, helps us to understand how "magical" this meeting was.

She's so amazing. And to think, after she recorded this masterpiece, she apologized cuz she thought she blew the take.

This just increased my respect for the band. I always felt that Clare Torry deserved an opportunity to sing this segment live. She gave it her best in the studio. Bringing her on tour with them was very thoughtful, and respectful. Hats off to the greatest album ever recorded, by one of the greatest bands in rock history.

Imagine how strange it would be for someone that doesn't know Pink Floyd or this song, watching and wondering if she ever gonna start to sing

Without question...the absolute BEST vocal, non-word, on a song in the history of modern music IMHO.

The one song that has moved me more than any other in 63 years. Those chord changes and that voice. Number One for me.

This song me so much peace. My Dad lost his battle with Colon Cancer February 17, 2023 4 days after my birthday. I watched him try to hang on because he didn’t want to ruin my birthday. He was a huge Pink Floyd fan along with myself. I listen to them so much differently now…the way they originally intended. Now I understand. No words but so much meaning and to hear the waves of the ups and downs of the grief process…sad, angry, and at peace. Amazing…amazing song.
