PATCH 7.3 NOTES -- Botlane Rundown. Malzahar + Zyra NERFED!?

This video is a patch rundown for botlane on PATCH 7.3. This video focuses on Malzahar and Zyra nerfs, and goes into my opinion on what Riot should be focusing on rather than just nerfing the shit out of whatever is strong.

I've played zyra a fair bit since the patch and the nerfs definitely hit her lane phase significantly. Since Q is hard to hit sometimes, it might make E max more common. Overall though, the mid and late game feels relatively similar to her pre patch 7.3 strength. I don't feel like zyra in soloQ was op but in pro play I think she was too strong since she's basically pick/ban. Unfortunately, I feel this AI change might stick around a while.

Thanks for the insight i0ki, seems the good old rito's enforcement is still strong... before even looking at how meta settles and giving time to people to learn to handle strong picks.

I think the nerfs were fair. These nerfs were aimed and professional play. In professional play Malzahar and Zyra are just too dominant. Malz, Zyra and Karma are almost the only supports that ever get picked in professional games.

I also like the way they did the nerfs. It was a bit unfair the amount of damage Zyra could do even when you dodged all her abilities. And it was really annoying how Malzahar's voidlings would chase you all the way down the lane. It was very oppressive to melee champions. It might be argued that taking away the instant voidling spawn took away some interesting gameplay. But it's also a bit unfair how even when you have popped Malzahar's spellshield you still can't pin him down. It's just too much to have both the voidlings and the spellshield to protect against skillshots.

I don't think Malzahar and Zyra will completely disappear from pro play because of these nerfs. But we will see some more diversity in what is picked. Malz and Zyra will still be strong laners, but people will not be completely fucked over if they try to sneak through a support pick for the late game.

I recently saw a video about Warwick support and tried it normals. everytime i played it I and my team did pretty well.

He has a gap closer and hard cc that can be used to force a fight on his e and q much like Leona. Unlike Leona he can heal himself after taking a trade, which makes it less risky for him to engage. He seems also great at roaming with his w and his ultimate can be a deathsentence for squishies.

Have you tried him? What are your thoughts on ww support?

I think he might be a great choice for people who enjoy playing Leona.
