So i bought a remote from amazon and was trying to program it to my legacy 650 garage opener and yeah it didn't works io gave up, but now and wall button and remotes that were working before are all not working. All I get is a clicking sound but the door won't open or close.

Well I have an liftmaster 8160W and I got it installed last year and it's great no issues yet!

Don't automatically think that you have a circuit board issue just bc all it does is click. Mine was just clicking and I opened it up to remove the circuit board and put it in the oven to try and revive the solder bc I automatically thought it was a bad board after looking at all these videos... Clicking doesn't just mean a bad board. When I opened mine up there was a red wire that had broken off of the connector going to a motor. Stripped the wire, crimped a new female connector on, plugged it back on motor and fired it up. Garage door is working again. Free fix. Open it up, look around, make sure ALL wires are connected all the way and none are broken... I didn't see the red wire hanging initially bc I was too busy moving it out of the way to get to the circuit board. Slow down, look around, unplug and plug all connectors to make sure. These motors are constantly opening and closing, being jared around.

In my case, there was something on the floor in between the sensors, the ones with the green and red light, so it wouldnt let me close it. I just moved the object out of the way and it worked.

Or you could like I did and check to see if the sensors are covered up and it makes the
same sound and the fix is only a step away without having to pay any money. I went
out into the garage & a part of a broom was covering the left sensor at the bottom edge
of the door, moved the broom aside and then it was fixed. No board replacement.
Our home is only about a year old, so I was fairly sure the board was fine.

Before you jump to this conclusion please check your sensors and make sure one is not blinking red. That’s what my issue was.

Check your floor sensors. Mine was flashing and when I made sure the cords were tightened and it worked fine. Did the same thing. Clocked and afterwards it worked like new.

What's the cost to replace a circuit board?

I think these issues were really common with those back in the day. But as of now I've never heard of any logic board issues on these openers.

My brand new 3055 genie wasn’t closing all the way, no matter how many attempts to set the down limit. Now it’s doing this. I think I should’ve bought a different brand.

Mine did that since I didn’t set the lower limit of the door yet after I adjusted max height. Once I set the lower then it worked.

I had this issue however it turned out that snow was blocking the sensor with the red blinker. Whipped the snow off and everything worked after.

If both of your LED lights on the top, your motor are both red that means you need to reprogram and try again with the programming system. You also need to check your sensors. Those things can be hard to track but it’s really easy if a red light is blinking on the other side and a green light is solid on the other side and in that means that if you try to open or close the garage door it’ll go slightly down and it’ll come back up and it the light will start blinking if you have a LiftMaster, a chamberlain so if you have those type of openers those lights for blank, just me trying to help garage door expert

Curious if you ever seen it where unit clicks from the remote (chain even moves a super small amount) but using the button on the wall the unit works. The remote is hit or miss on it working, , its an allstar unit fyi.

Often the issue is a bad solder joint on the board. If you don't know how to solder then take the board to a TV repair shop and ask them to look over the board and re-solder any joints that look suspicious. If that doesn't solve the problem then the motor relay on the board probably needs to be replaced.

I had the exact problem it was just a loose wire on the sensor buy the door that shows if there is something blocking the door

Newer Genie garage doors flash and click when the door is in lock mode.

Mine will go up and down with wall button, but not the remote. The opener purple light flashes when i push the button, but nothing happens.

Just installed a Genie 1.25HP earlier today. And it's clicking, but if I let it sit for 4-5 min, it'll work again, then it'll stop working and go back to clicking, then it'll work again few mins later. I'll try to call customer service on the weekday.
