This isn't the end-all of recipes or even the perfect way to cook Lättyjä I'm sure but for this one particularly perfect morning it was the way my son and I cooked them.
Some people simply cook with love, it is amazing how they can make the same food that you cook yourself, with mediocre results, to taste absolutely fantastic. My grandmother was such a person.

My grandmother was the lätty master. Mine never gets as good. Don't really know why and i watched her make läyttyjä hundreds of times. She used to make me läyttyjä when i went there after school. Good times!

You are so right. There is no correct way to make or eat lettuja. (Yes, lettuja, that an traditional dialect feud :D)
I love muurinpohjalettuja. Very common in savo-area. They are made in a huge cast iron cauldron bottom like-esque pan on a open fire. Pan is slathered with fresh pork fat. Edges of lettu fried crispy. Served with real butter. Oh man, getting hungry.

I usually go with strawberry jam with chunks when eating Lättyjä, or sometimes i just put granulated sugar on top when they are still hot and roll the lätty into a tube and eat it like that. They are also nice when reheated on a pan and you sprinkle some sugar on it, it melts and as it gets cooler it solidifies and becomes nicely crispy

I never taste lättyjä with maple syrup, maybe someday 🤔 I eat lätyt with strawberry jam or just sugar 😊

if you make oat porridge or rice porridge along the week save those in refrigerator and use them in lettu dough at saturday :)
