I think the beauty of Jo and Laurie’s relationship is how they truly loved each other but not in the same way. Laurie loved Jo as a person who he wanted to marry and have a family with. Jo truly loved Laurie but only as a best friend and it’s actually frustrating to see two different kinds of love collide but it’s what makes their relationship in the movie special.

In my opinion Jo was the traitor, she rejected him and told him she would never be with anyone, but she was with someone else, and when Laurie finally fell in love with someone else after spending years suffering for Jo, she wanted to be with him just so she wouldn't feel lonely, even though she never loved him

jo and laurie had an unrequited love. he was in love with her, but the feeling wasn't the same. she loved him, but she wasn't IN LOVE with laurie. amt was always in love with laurie, but he was too hung up on jo. jo would've been with him for the wrong reasons when amy would've been with him for the right reasons. i think of jo and laurie's relationship as a "friendship soulmate" bond.

unpopular opinion: amy was such a good character, so many ppl think shes evil or smt cuz she "stole" laurie from jo, when it was jo's fault. she only wanted him at the end bc she was afraid of being lonely, she didnt actually love him. and laurie didnt deserve that fake love. amy on the other hand always loved him, and she was always put as second choice. she went thru sm emotionally tbh and yeah so did jo but atleast she never had to feel as if she wasnt good enough and was just a second choice.

When I first watched this, I came out of the cinema literally repeating “I hate Laurie” over and over to my mother and friends. I don’t know why I felt so passionate and so hurt on behalf of Jo, but I did. I guess I just thought they’d have been good together. I now firmly believe that, while it didn’t end up like I expected, it was still perfect for both of them. Life is just like that. So imperfect and so painful. But everything happens for a reason; whether for better or worse. ♥️♥️
