What is a bunion? A bunion is a bony bump beneath the skin on the inner side of the foot. This deformity affects the joint at the base of the big toe. A bunion starts small, but over time it can grow to become very large and painful. The visible bump reflects changes in the bony framework of the front part of the foot. A bunion forms when your big toe points toward the second toe and throws the bones out of alignment.

Learn more about bunion risk factors, as well as symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment options from Paul L. Goodman, DPM, FACFAS, FAPWCA at Illinois Bone & Joint Institute.

Illinois Bone & Joint Institute is proud to bring you this virtual event as part of the YMCA Education Series from North Suburban YMCA.
