This is my favorite content! I love goal setting and making future plans! Good luck in 2023!

This year I finally turned my office into a library and bought several book shelves and then I felt I needed to fill those shelves. That being said I probably spent about $4000 on books, special editions and book boxes. My main goal in 2023 is to cut down that number drastically and focus on reading my physical TBR before buying more books.

would love to see videos of you bingeing series next year! I agree that reading series back to back makes me enjoy them more (and actually finish them)

"Don't judge me. Judge yourself" Going to use that for now on lol. Iconic! I also feel guilty re-reading books instead of reading my tbr. I finally allowed myself this month and LOVED it!!!

i too keep track of how much i spent on books and seeing that 1k figure for me last year was definitely what helped me pump the breaks on impulsive book purchasing in 2023

I am a huge binge-reader, so I did that whole thing with the series this year. Also did the vlogs. It was so much fun! Highly recommend. I only read about 80 books a year and I have spent around 500 Euro, so I think if I was reading at your pace, I would spend a similar amount of money to yours. :) Happy reading in 2023, and good luck with these goals.

For the next year im definitely going to track my book spending, , I've never heard of someone doing that, very helpful. Im encouraging anyone who spends lots on books to use a library!!

Series are so hard to keep up with lol >.< but that plan sounds like a good one.
Getting my Goodreads TBR down to 500 sounds like a dream :)
I always put my Goodreads reading goal at 100 as well. Nice round number that I know I can hit.

you're amazing.
1. while I haven't spent that much on books, I don't believe yours is that high considering the fancy pants books that Fairyloot sends out, plus I imagine you bought a handful of hardcovers, and on top of all that books (plus, everything else these days) is friggin' expensive.
2. yes, and yes. to a) series binging and b) non fiction wrap up videos.
3. I'm setting my goodreads goal for 100.

In 2021 I spent almost $1, 000 on books so you're definitely not alone in that and it also caused me to slow down how much I bought this year

I love this! I love stats and tracking and goals and results. So fun! I hope 2023 is wonderful for you <3
I'm probably going to hit 124 books read for this year, which is way more than I have ever read before. But for 2023, I'm actually going to keep my goal around 80 because there are other hobbies I want to get back into this year so that may impact my reading a bit.

I definitely binge read series. You're right, they seem more fun that way. I can listen to audiobooks while I work so my reading goal is higher than it would otherwise be. I had 250 on GR last year and passed that to this year I think I put in 275. We'll see. I'm incredibly far behind entering books there and need to get that caught up this weekend. This was a great video. Thank you!

this year I started buying most of my books secondhand but I think I should start reading books from the library before I purchase so I don’t have so many books that I felt meh about

I love reading horror classics, too! A couple shorter ones that I've really enjoyed were The Yellow Wall-Paper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman and The Willows by Algernon Blackwood.

My policy is to not start series until they are finished since I know I'm not going to go back and re-read the previous books. So it's easier than forgetting the plot all over the course of a year or more between. Then if you are really into a series you can binge through the whole thing, which I really like. Also, you are not alone on your book buying "budget." I just did a quick add-up of my book spending for the year and I'm definitely over $1k, though I'm bound to have missed some things. It was lower than it's been in previous years, so I might be improving. Using the library really does help. My branch tells you how much you've saved by checking out books and it was almost $2k there, so my spending could have been worse I guess lol

I have the fairy loot, illumicrate, Goldsboro, and book of the month subscription boxes. So that alone is over $1, 000 in a year. I do sell and buy on pangobooks, but I don’t really buy to much beyond that. I don’t buy shoes and purses nor clothes, so it’s not a big deal to me or my husband.

I owned about 5 books before 2022 and now I'm at about 1000. I don't want to or know what I spent. You're good. 😂

I don't usually spend more than $10-15 per year on books, but I'm super poor and generally buy secondhand. Mostly, I just use the library, though. 😁

I loved this video! And I know that's a lot of money for books, but it's also “only” about two months of working a mini job, in Germany (roughly calculated). I can see why that's a shocking number, though. I will try something risky and set my goal to 100 books! The most books I have ever read in a year were 50, in 2021, but I have a lot of reading to do academic-wise and the more I read, the better my papers, projetc, etc. are going to be!
