Northeast Ohio weather forecast: Wind and snow arriving

Показать описание
Your 11 p.m. Northeast Ohio weather forecast for Dec. 4, 2024: Get ready. Our next round of winter weather is moving in for Northeast Ohio and will continue into tomorrow. We have a Weather Impact Alert that will be with us through Thursday.
Lake snow warnings and winter weather advisories will be in effect for the duration of this system. Accumulations will be highest in the Warning areas.
Minor snow has boon ongoing south of Cleveland and more snow will be developing throughout the evening. Combined with the strong winds, we'll likely be dealing with visibility issues at times. Blowing and drifting of the snow that is already on the ground in the snowbelt will also be possible. We'll turn our attention toward an arctic front that will blow through with a band of briefly heavy snow late this evening into the overnight. This front will lay down a coating of snow for nearly all of us in northern Ohio. Beyond that, the wind and lake snows take over into the day Thursday.
WEDNESDAY EVENING
On-and-off bursts of big wet snowflakes with gusty winds. Temps in the low to mid 30s. Gusty winds. Blowing and drifting of the snow that is already on the ground.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT
The arctic front will blow through with strong winds and a burst of snow for most locations in northern Ohio. This burst could reduce visibility and put down a coating to an inch of quick snow. Scattered snow continues Wednesday night with strong winds producing blowing and drifting snow, especially in the snowbelt. Temps will plummet from the 30s to the 10s with wind chills diving below zero for the first time this season. Roads become slick all over northern Ohio.
THURSDAY
Lake effect snow will take over. Much colder with wind chills in the single digits or just below zero for much of the day. Where the lake effect bands set up, we could have near-blizzard conditions at times as winds gust over 45 mph, especially near the lake.
THURSDAY NIGHT INTO FRIDAY
Lake snows could continue in the primary snowbelt with gusty winds. Winds will eventually subside with lake snows winding down Friday. When all is said and done, some portions of the snowbelt could pick up another half a foot to a foot of snow.
Our pattern looks to flip next week with a rainy, warmer weather forecast at least for the first half of next week. We'll need to keep an eye on how much rain is on the way as flood concerns are possible in the snowbelt east of Cleveland. Temperatures warm into the 40s and maybe even near 50 early next week.
