One way that I can think of that Boruto could travel to that exact moment without altering the timeline is that for some reason in the future he needs help and since the Edo Tensei is a forbidden jutsu the other way is to go to the past (to the time in which the fourth great ninja war was fought) and bring from the past the Edo Tensei version of the first 4 Hokages who were not doing much while Team 7 and Obito were fighting against Kaguya in other dimensions. This way he wouldn't alter anything and could return the Edo tensei to that exact point in time whenever he wanted.

I belive that time travel is likely. Boruto is very much similar to future trunks.
The whole arc with the shinju kinda feels a lot like DBZ cell saga / android saga.

There's a lot of inspiration from dragon ball so i wouldn't be denying time travel.

With the recent developments there will be needed some kind of plot device to reverse everything back.

I wouldn’t mind to see/ read another time travel arc within Boruto TBV, especially if it’s cannon material. I just caught all the way up with the anime and the manga yesterday, and I can honestly say I have no idea how these events will eventually lead to episode 1s intro of a destroyed Konoha, but I can’t wait for the new chapter fr. It releases this January 18th, one week after my bday🔥
