Concerto for 4 violins was my audition piece for the san antonio symphony. I loved that ornament towards the end! Every musician has their own flare, especially in baroque.

In baroque period violins and violas were held directly under the chin because there wasn't that neck support. Thus they didn't use vibrato. Due to the fact the bow was shorter and the tip was lighter the result was more fluid and it required a more up-and-down of the bow.

In case you don't know, this is the solo from Vivaldi's concerto in B minor, RV 580, beginning at measure 59 on the sheets I got from imslp.
What marvelous playing! You've inspired me! I downloaded the sheets from IMSLP and gave the solo a go. Let's just say I need to practice, but I got through it which is grand considering I really need new glasses. 🤣 Btw, I only play Mandolin.
