You compose such a great video. Content, video, transitions, audio voiceovers are all top-notch. You should have 5, 000 subscribers, not 500. Nice to have a way to use the Arduino IDE even with its limitations. Keep broadcasting!!

good video, possibly do another video on how to connect and code a i2c lcd using the Arduino compiler. I can't seem to find anyone showing how to do it, without using python.

Hi Ryan - great video. As I follow along with the tutorial using Arduino IDE 1.8.15, my Pico shows up at Drive E as RPI-RP2. It shows 2 files, Index.htm and INFO_UF2.txt. The Arduino IDE & my PC dont show it at a COM Port. My PC in Device Manager calls it "Other Devices" regardless if BOOTSEL is held down or not when the USB is plugged in. What needs done to have Arduino IDE recognize it at a COMPORT ?

I just purchased a Pico in July 2022, and under v1.8.19, the Pico definitely behaves differently when installing it. First off, the device driver doesn't seem to get installed via the Board Manager. When you are done and select the Pico from the Boards list, you won't be able to choose a port. Taking advice found on the internet, I went ahead and tried uploading the Blink sketch. It took a while, but the device driver got automatically installed by Windows 10 during this process, Arduino detected and set it, the sketch uploaded, and the LED started blinking as per the sketch's instructions. Apart from this, the only thing I noticed is that I definitely have to press the Boot Select while connecting it to my computer if I want to upload a new sketch to it.

Just passing this along, in case anyone else runs into the same problem I had.

Are you certain that the pico compiler is not creating debug information when compiled which would produce much larger code and longer compile times ?

do i need to delee microphython first? i have a problem now cant ypload using arduni ide its not detecting tn the apss

I came here to learn about how to upload to the Pi Pico. I started with the Blink sketch, I selected the Pico board, I selected the ACME0 port, then hit the upload button: . . . . . . . An error occurred while uploading the sketch. So I unplugged the cable, pushed the button down, reattached the cable, reselected the board and port: . . . . . . . . an error occurred while uploading the sketch.

Oh, yes I am running linux. They do not like to play together.

Can you help with this?

Great tutorial. I'm using IDE on my Ubuntu system and am an absolute beginner :-)
I made my first experience with Arduino Nano.
What about the issue with the memory you mentioned? Will ist work with an other compiler or micropython "better"?

Hi. i want to use MPU6050 module with Raspberry Pi Pico board and code on Arduino IDE. I just want to know that, how can i show my SDA and SCL pin in code. Ordinary Arduino i2c choose SDA - A4, SCL - A5. But i use GPIO? for SDA and SCL.

please can you help!! after I chose the board type, in serial ports I have no port for R Pi Pico ??!! what can I do ?

Your are using more flash and ram because the Mbed rtos .
Rtos will add a lot of "hidden" and unused functionality that will cost ram and flash.

how can i auto run a code when using this, code only runs when arduino ide is open.

I think it is great! You are not understanding. Similar to how a storage uses some space for format and firmware drivers, so does the pico. Since the Arduino has only 32, 000 bytes of storage, I will give up a litte ram and storage for 16, 000, 000 bytes!

its the worst thing ever. half the syntax is garbled and no documentation. feel bad for arduino connect guys . its the only rp2040 board that has to use arduino. atmega 328p can run doom and do 1d spline. arduino mbed rp2040 boards cant even do catmull or ray cast. its junk overpriced junk. they should sell them for $0.50. even the ili9341 library has a faster one for atmel chips. adafruits ili9341 library is garbage that runs slow as hell. 60fps on a 320 x 240 screen with atmel vs 10 with rp2040
