AI could never take the place of a live person for me but I understand the trend. Many people in the service industry never understood their value so the industry was often plagued with people with poor service skills. Chat support gave way to AI when companies learned that customers would rather deal with a person in chat vs a phone representative with an attitude. The danger with AI is autonomy. Just ask Zuckerberg and Amazon. The moment an organization's bottom line replaces human capital, we're all doomed.
