From high-end inspiration, to budget-friendly ideas, turning your inspiration into reality can be a challenge! So in this live design session (where I start the process of my bedroom makeover) I'm sharing my perspective on how to make every room in your home feel well-designed and curated for your own personal tastes, especially if you're on a budget! We'll be covering how to use a digital mood board in Canva to clarify your creative direction, how to get more use out of traditional tools like Pinterest, and how to save money while maintaining the vision. I start with this process every time I feel a bit overwhelmed or stumped on what to do next, so I'm hoping that it can help you too! Whether you're planning a full room makeover or just redecorating a corner of your home, I think these steps can help you achieve whatever style you've been dreaming about, all while creating a cohesive home on a small budget.

Comment below with your design dilemmas so we can figure it out together!

How many times have you put off designing your home because it just feels too overwhelming to turn your inspiration into reality? 🙋🏼

This is so helpful! We bought our house six years ago...and it looks like we just moved in. Lots of stuff in boxes, plastic to protect floors from paint (which we haven't done)...I'm not even sure what my style is. This will go a long way toward helping me figure it out. I'd love to see more on this topic!

Watching you use Canva was more helpful than I would have thought. It's gotten me inspired to use it to help me with my living room!

Interesting program. I love Pinterest, I have boards for each room of my house, gardens, yard art and many others. Look forward to your bedroom makeover. I think some sort of vintage medicine cabinet would work for your perfume collection, a thrifted piece in keeping with your thrift style.
I have an antique armoire, purchased from Craig's list. Theres shelves for folded clothes instead of hanging, which works better for me. The backside of the door, I padded & satin covered it, criss crossed ribbon, installed hooks to hang necklaces, bracelets a couple of miniature frames, photos and a few mementos.
On one of the shelves, I have a thrifted vintage frame. The inside of the frame, matches the padding, ribbon & satin of the door; I have some of my grandma's vintage costume pins displayed with a photo of my grandma. She collected pins.

I’m watching this video after having already seen the primary bedroom makeover video, and I am finding it so delightful to notice moments where I can clearly see how close the final execution of the design is to the inspiration. So satisfying as a viewer, and I imagine it’s even more satisfying to experience in your own space!

Thank you! People who make interior decor videos often show mood boards, and I even tried to make one... but quickly realized I had no idea how to do it. I even went to Milanote, which someone recommended for making mood boards, opened a board and thought, "Uh-oh! What do I do now?" So this was very helpful!

Loved this video! Please do more of these!! Making mood boards is so much fun to me lol. Your idea to do this with imaginary rooms with fake limitations would also be very helpful/inspiring. :)

Thanks. Very helpful to see the mood board process, it does help narrow down options and focus you, as you say. I like so many things/styles that I end up aimlessly scrolling so need help corralling ideas. You went back and forth but it's definitely "boo teek" not "bow teek" 😉. Looking forward to the makeover down the line.

Great tips!

I’ve been loving those interestingly patterned stripey blankets lately! ( not sure what to call them!)

Your Pinterest boards have all the same stuff as mine! lol

Hey, I also live in SD and am wanting to start to acquire some vintage pieces of furniture to replace my big box store stuff. Obviously there's FB Marketplace but are there any go to shops in SD that you like? Also I LOVE your channel and your style.

Hello. This is an interest process. Having a direction and or plan is a good jump off point. My question is how do you break what you pick down. I get overwhelmed by choosing so much.
