A compilation of everytime the main Gundam launches for the first time, while being piloted by the protagonist or its main pilot, in the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise.

Every extract is taken from the original source material, except for the first Gundam, Wing Zero Endless Waltz, G-Self, Full Armor, Atlas and Tristan who all come from their respective movie recut, and for the ones from SEED and SEED Destiny who come from the remastered versions.

My favorite is still Barbatos. He literally just bursts up from the ground, kills one Graze, damages a second, and uses retreating soldiers as cover. Then, he does basically the same thing with the next 2 versions of Barbatos. Each time he gets a completely new suit, he shows up mid-battle, destroys a bunch of enemies, and the enemies retreat

48:46 I still think Lfrith's activation is one of the greatest first launches in Gundam history. Elnora's sheer horror the moment she sees her toddler daughter has activated the most powerful weapon in history, contrasted with the frankly heartbreaking scene less than a minute before of her comforting said child after they're thrown into an active battlefield, with friends and family dying all around them. And everything is completed with the OST, emphasizing just how earth-shattering this moment is, how extremely WRONG this moment is. Eri has just been tossed into a life of war and suffering. Elnora knows it, the music knows it, the audience knows it, it's just Eri herself who can't understand it.

the Turn A feeling like an awakening demon is so fucking cool, man. Really sets up its origins.

Fun fact: Stargazer is the only Gundam not intended for fighting but rather space exploration, it’s Solar Sail (or the Voiture Lumiere) captures solar wind energy and converts it into propulsion, which would enable it to accelerate indefinitely as long as it’s moving. However, it did end up being used in combat because the base was being attacked, and oh boy it’s fucking strong.
