“Bottom of the top” is such a genius entendre

This was the first scene where I noticed how different Greg looked than the beginning

It's indicative that Nero murdered his wife and married Sporus instead.

'Souls are boring' - Greg's expression is beautiful and perfect here and so is this scene. Bring on S4!

A lot of people adore this scene, and for good reason: it's one of the most important in the series. The mix of abuse, insecurity, and protectiveness that Tom has always dealt Greg makes sense because, deep down, he knows what it's like to be expendable to the Roy family. This impression is driven home not only by the season's long prison-scare arc but also by the short scene preceding this one, where Shiv dismisses Tom over the phone for even asking about his own position in the siblings' coup. But when Tom hears Greg bragging about ditching Comfrey for the Contessa, Tom realizes that he has an opportunity to stop Greg from becoming like him. You can see it in Tom's face: he realizes that Greg is conflating love with power, the same mistake Tom made with Shiv. Recall that Shiv got together with Tom mostly because she needed the stability he provided after her still-unspecified "mess" — same as Greg swooping in for the Contessa's little "existential crisis." Tom loves Shiv, just as Greg seems to think that he and the Contessa are genuinely "hitting' it off"; at the same time, Tom has always believed that his emotional commitment to Shiv would bring him status in the Roy family. Hell, he volunteers to go to prison to prove his love and loyalty and is left stunned as everyone else, including his wife, takes him up on it. When he hears Greg misguidedly rattling off about his ridiculous new life as a nobleman, Tom brings him into the plot. If you're going after power, don't assume you'll get it through love.

I was dense enough to think this was Tom bringing Greg aboard to help the siblings against Logan. Great season finale.

The dialogue is too good. I've watched this so many times, and always cringed at the part where Tom imitates him in front of Congress. The abusive behavior from Tom genuinely and rightfully pushes Greg away throughout the series, and so it seems off-putting that it works for Tom in this conversation. But I really get it now when he immediately follow it up with, "Who has ever looked after you in this fucking family." Tom's not talking about his public perception in public eye because of the Congressional testimony. It's not Tom's personal opinion - he knows to a certainty that he's a joke within the family. Does Greg have Brightstar Buffalo in his hip pocket? Who's going to follow-through on that on Greg's behalf? Which of the siblings? Logan? This isn't Tom being abusive. Greg knows he's right on this.

All Tom had to start with is telling Greg he could have his own Greg and that would have been it.
