Forestry and Innovation - The world's future forest industry, wood cities, and restored landscapes
Показать описание
Sweden is known for its success in reforesting the heavily degraded land in just over 100 years. The success did not accidentally happen by nature-led, but it passed through several trials and errors. Instead of strictly preserving the forest, Sweden reinvented an approach where people can use the forest’s resources. With proper solutions, Sweden enjoys exporting forest-related products of over 15 billion USD annually while increasing its forest-covered land from 25 percent to 70 percent within 100 years.
The Royal Thai Embassy in Stockholm, together with TNIU and Eco-Innovation Foundation (EIF), with support from the Royal Thai Forest Department and Kasetsart University, is co-hosted this webinar on “Forestry and Innovation” in order to be a platform for people from Thailand and Sweden to participate, discuss, and share their experiences and best practices on forest management.
This first webinar in the series on “Forestry and Innovation” provided a broad perspective on how the concept of “Forest-Industry-Market” can promote reforestation in Sweden, how can innovation be linked to sustainable forestry, and how can Thailand and Sweden synergize their efforts to develop a competitive wood industry. Our experts from Sweden, Mr. Klas Bengtsson, Programme Partner, and Mr. Aaron Kaplan, Director of EIF led the discussion.
