The Ashes, just in general: We knew it would be big. It always is. We didn't know that four of the five matches would be in balance into their final hour. So much conversation, irritation, celebration over the course of six weeks. Here we are at the end, vague, exhausted. But it's time to look back over it all.

The workload you guys manage is crazy and to still somehow retain the correct amount of impartiality and saltiness that has kept me thoroughly entertained is a credit to you both! Btw I don’t subscribe to a lot of the nonsense around ‘moral victories’. A loss still feels like a loss at the end of the day. The Aussies can point to the injury to Lyon as a turning point. There were twists and turns aplenty for both sides to feel that opportunities were missed. The weather always plays a part and having been 2-0 it was clear we shelved a little of the gung-ho in favour of pragmatism. It was a fascinating clash of styles and a great contest. Ultimately the win at the Oval was huge for England, just to keep this experiment on track. All I can say is thank you Bazball for dragging England out of the darkness and thank you Aussies for serving up 4 extremely tight matches and a whole host of storylines!
