The idea of making weapons, vehicles, engines and abusing glitches to make insane things possible, in a game where you're literally supposed to build a bridge, somehow makes me so much excited.

Knowing some more about game development. The bug is probably caused by the Solver. To solve physics simulations there are 2 ways to do it. Hardcode the constraints or using a Solver. It's all complicated math shenanigans but the point is, most solver only approximate. It's unreasonable to calculate everything cause it'd cause a lot of performance issues. A common artifact of Solver imprecision is jigglying. The forces that act on the steelbeams are just so great that the physics calculations crap out. Of course, if the physics simulation dies, so does gravity, so that's the reason it can fly too.
