Hell yeah, brings back memories. The original side by side. Called a sand rail or rock buggy if it had truck style tires.
Gen Z thinks this is the newest badass gocart 😂

My grandpa built vw Sandrails in AZ with Porsche motors out of Yuma & Phoenix.
He'd get a kick out of this! Love ya grandpa Erwin.

Rail Buggy hill killer.
Built off early beetle parts. Link pin, swing axle, wide 5, early big cap tank. Totally rad build 👍🏼

The dream neighbor...fat, noisey, smoker and with a loud machine up and down the street... nice.

Thats what im talking about. I built many rail buggies back in the 80s. We put a Porsche engine on one and back then that was a big deal. Last one i built had 94 juggs and i had it machined so tight i didnt use gaskets. Fun times. I cut up so many bugs, busses, Karman Ghias it shoud have been a crime. Had to have those 6 and 12 rib busses though. Great job man. Did you build the frame yourself? It's nice. I built a few but I was more into the engines. I mostly used Bee line frames. We'd take them to the drag strip sometimes and bust ass. Also see who could pull the front wheels the highest and furthest. I always wanted to take one to some sand but I'm in Appalachia so our main thing was hill climbing mostly. I flipped I don't know how many over and rolled them. This brings back a lot of memories. Thank you.

I remember back in the early 1980s, my grandpa talked about building a buggy like that.
Only he wanted to use a 283 Chevy engine.
Unfortunately he never got around to build it.
