I recommend getting a bigger island (preferably with water), which allows for more animals and space for your town island utopia. While going through the wall, press q for more of a view against the exploding rocks.

you can teleport your home island to you, despawn it and then respawn it close to you when you want to get animals home

Sawmill is deeper into the inner rim. Use all the atlases, and go to the marked islands.

Sawmill is in the middle ring between where you left it and the ? Mark. Use the atlas stones as you get them to give markers on the map.

I think it would be pretty cool to make a fully enclosed lower deck with angled windows and make it look like a blimp observation deck. Also a plank that you can dive off like a pirate ship. You know, all for the aesthetics.

I know you are supposed to go to a larger island organically over time and get better upgrades to make it fly, but I think building a airship in this game, which is not an island whatsoever, is a cooler option. I dunno if that is possible to get by with an airship like that, what with the animals requiring land and land size restricts whether you can shear them.
