The song's reference to the sirens tempting sailors at sea stems from the ancient Greek myth of extremely deceptively beautiful sea monsters luring sailors on to rocks by their singing, and no sailor has ever returned alive after hearing the siren song. In the Odyssey of Homer The main Protagonist Odyssey chained himself and waxed the ears of his crew so they don't get affected by the song of the sirens.... and he'd be only one living soul who heard to the sirens and still lived to tell the story.

Here the song is meant to be sung by Odyssey to the sirens while passing through the night full of Sirens.

Beautiful! And well done with the lyrics. They show up a bit earlier so we can continue flawlessly. Thanks!

Such a beautiful song I actually fell in love with the song when done by the mortal coil in the movie The Lovely Bones

Lyrics:
Long afloat, on shipless oceans
I did all my best to smile
Til your singing eyes and fingers
Drew me loving to your eyes
And you sang
Sail to me, sail to me
Let me unfold you
Here I am, here I am
Waiting to hold you
Did I dream, you dreamed about me?
We’re you here when I was forced out
Now my foolish boat is leaving
Broken on your rocks
For you sing, touch me not
Touch me not, come back tomorrow
And all my heart, all my heart
Shies from the sorrow
Well I’m as puzzled
As a newborn child
I’m as riddled as the tide
Should I stand, amid the breakers
Or should I lie with the death my bride
Hear me sing
Sail to me, sail to me let unfold you
Here I am, here I am
Waiting to hold you

Esta escena hizo que se me erizara la piel, la había escuchado con Sinead O'Connor pero esta quedó de lujo.

This is one of my favorite Tim Buckley songs.... but the lyrics are wrong. Which is how I usually hear it, but according to the original song the line should go...

"Did I dream you dreamed about me?
Were you hare when I was fox?"

I still love how this song is sung though. It's truly a beautiful song.
