As I get older, I appreciate the four seasons more and feel energy-zapped by dealing with too much hot weather. So southern Illinois is a pretty good climate for me because there are few frigid days and the overwhelming heat usually just happens in June, July, and parts of August.

I'll take Michigan any day. Lovely Spring, Summer, and Fall. Winter can be beautiful. A beautiful day to me is 65 degrees F

I just recently graduated from North Dakota State University in Fargo. The winters here are brutal we almost hit a record this past winter of I think it was almost 144 days without seeing a day of 40 degree weather. What really makes it cold is the state is so flat so the windchill makes it really bad. It didn’t recently get to the 50-60 degree range until early May. But don’t get me wrong the summer months here are pretty hot reaching those 90 degree days in July.

But to be honest if you have good winter clothes it makes it better and my opinion is rather live in cold because you can always put on layers but in hot like Arizona you can’t take off layers and just have to endure the heat.

I’ve lived in Maine for 68 years. In the 1960s, 70s and 80s, it was much worse especially the 60s 20 below was normal and some of the snow banks were 20-25 feet tall

I lived in Long Island NY and in my 40’s moved to Florida. Took me over 20 years to acclimate to a Florida Summer.
Now if it goes below the 50’s I feel it. Now that I’m older I like the heat much better than the cold.

Minnesota always hits 20-30 below zero (not wind chill) in January.

If weather is your only category for where you live, you will be fooled. Being outside in the cold is ok if you have good clothes. If you are in the heat, no amount of 'clothing' helps.

After 65 years in MN, I moved to a place with milder winters.
Ozarks of North Arkansas.

Glad I did.
Too old to deal with the cold or stay inside all winter,

Nearly 60 years for me in my home state, Alaska. Moved to our deep south in the far north years ago and it is great. Cold temperatures from mid October thru mid April. Clean air with a rich enviorment and clean water. I also live at the border of our wilderness with a bar at the begining of my drive way. The bar also acts as our local job services, you can find workers in the morning that have only had coffee and are willing to work.

I was surprised Montana wasn't on the list. The coldest temperature recorded in the lower 48 was in Montana.

You skipped over Montana where the average annual temperature is 42 degrees. Montana is colder than Idaho. Also, the coldest temperature ever recorded in Boise was only -28 degrees.

I love long winters and lots of snow. There’s not enough of either here in Ohio.
