I ate low carb and Keto for several years and ignored my high cholesterol as they said not to worry about it. I then ended up being diagnosed with peripheral Artery disease. I am now vegan and hope that people understand all health numbers and markers matter. I actually am already feeling better in just 2 months! I am following Dr. Esselstyn's book.

My family laughs at me when I bring my own food on holidays. It's so bizarre that some think eating only plants is more shocking than raising, killing, and eating animal parts out of a styrofoam tray wrapped in plastic.

Reversed mother’s Stage 4 colon cancer in raw vegan protocol within 2 months. However, was able to take father off of five medications including reversing his gout, no more statins, reduced cholesterol, blood pressure, frequent nightly urinations and got his short term memory back. All this within five weeks. Dad is almost eighty. Had put him on a balanced ketogenic eating plan: organ meats, fermented veggies, leafy greens, sardines, grassfed red meat, pasture-raised eggs, raw dairy, coconut oil and vegetables. High fat, modest protein - .7 to .8% of lean body mass and under 20 net carbohydrates. It worked for him. To each their own, both parents around same age.

Dr Williams was a big time competitive tennis player back in the day; anyone else notice the Wimbledon tie? Subtly making Klaus feel right at home. What a guy.

Note that Impossible burger also has Heme Iron, it's considered a sectret ingredient for meat flavor. High in saturated fat, sodium and heme iron. It probably isn't much better than eat beef from a health perspective.

My brother had severe acid reflux in pain for years. He was on 3 types of meds. I suggested going healthy Vegan fruits veggies grains limit process food as much as possible. He jumped in with both feet. Within 3 weeks his doctor took him off his meds. Whole plant base eating is powerful!!!

this is such a great video on so many levels. I've seen a few of your channels videos before but this one with Dr Williams was really worth it. Thank you for conducting this interview and for asking questions that mattered! Much appreciated and I hope to see more videos like this in the future.

I’m a vegan daughter. My entire family has changed their way of eating. They are still not vegan, but I’m working on it!

6:27 "[Keto] is not something that people should do unless your weight loss is more important than your life."
Another brilliant quote from Dr. Kim Williams. Thanks!

As an African American I'm so on board with what the doctor is sharing. In our community we truly need to look at what we're putting in our bodies. The doctors over medicate patients. All the different pills folks are taking for this or that condition. I'm learning so much about healthy eating. Being empowered with this knowledge of veganism is astounding!! Reclaiming living !!!

I was watching a patient of mine eating breakfast. He was on the keto diet. Breakfast consisted of: 2 strips of bacon, 2 sausage, 2 scrambled eggs, some sort of grilled meat, it looked like pork. And coffee. No one will EVER be able to convince me that this "food" is healthy. What I have found taking care of people, mainly the elderly for like 40 plus years. They eat lots of carbs like desserts, tons of meat and more meat than anything else. Meat of some sort is normally the first thing they think of when they think of food. It is the FIRST thing they put on their plate. They then go for the carbs....rice, pasta.. with tons of sauce. And then I cannot help but notice, very little or NO veges. Many of the elderly eat NO salad of any kind due to chewing and/or swallowing problems. Many have no teeth or very little teeth. And then... they all love their desserts and it is NOT fruit. Lots of processed desserts with tons of sugar.

This man is at the top of his field. He cites all relevant research, knows their strengths and weaknesses, understands clinical implications of meta research and the conflating effects of low-carb and ketogenic diets via initial, massive weight loss. I would want Dr. Williams to be my cardiologist without hesitation. He combines superb intellect with outstanding bedside manners -- all in the tradition of Dr. Marcus Wilby. We need more docs like Dr. Kim Williams. Yes, a good doctor is hard to find these days.

i think too many ppl assume keto means eating a ton of meat.

I went from 180/100 to 98/54 in six months by going 100% whole food, plant-based and eliminating all added fat and salt. Sugar has never been a problem for me, I have never liked sweets and if I have desert it is whole fruit so eliminating added burger was not in play. Now two years later I am 100% Rx free and perfect labs. Love feeling good.

@4:45: Wrong. People don’t only go keto to lose weight in a short amount of time. Many people have switched to keto for cancer, multiple sclerosis etc, and have actually gotten their symptoms under control. Not sure if it would work for everyone but it has certainly worked for some.

So happy to see this. The keto guys say they are science based as well so it gets confusing but here is comprehensive overview, not cherry picked data. Some of the WFPB proponents I had seen looked kind of hollow-eyed and overly intense or a little daffy, but here is a very well-spoken, clear-minded professional with an opinion I can trust. Thank you.
