ITS NOT EASY BEING BROKEN DOWN IN A SMALL TOWN....WAITING FOR THINGS TO OPEN.

My name is Chrome i have been living in y cargo van for 6 years now. I started this lifestyle BROKE and IN DEBT and after t11 months of living the van life i cleared my debt and started to put my life back together and build for a better future. I have turned my original van into a badass camper van that is lifted with all the toys. Over the years i went from being broke and stealth camping in the city and sleeping at walmarts... to now, living fulltime in a jacked up van and driving deep off-grid into the backcountry and living life in the dirt. WOW LIFE HAS CHANGED.

I now have a shop space to keep me busy through the winters here on Canada's westcoast. Went from Van Life to VAN LIFE + SHOP LIFE !!!!!! Come join this crazy van life journey of mine. HIT SUBSCRIBE, trust me its gonna be a WILD RIDE.

Hey Chrome my sister in Terrace highly recommends Thornhill Precision Auto repair, I think there open at 8 am tomorrow!

Sounds like torque converter. There should be an inspection shield off the bell housing that you can access. Pull that and see if there is anything laying in the bell housing like gravel or shrapnel. You might even be able to check the tq converter bolts there as well.

Life is throwing you some curve balls right now. Hang in there buddy

Chrome, the delay with your Van is a protection from harm with the fires. I am sorry about you and your lady. She is a beautiful soul.

How about dropping down to Prince Rupert and hopping a ferry over to Haida Gwaii? The west coast is only place in 3 provinces without smoke right now. Then maybe take the ferry up to the Alaskan Coast after a few days???? Avoid the smoke for a month or so until the weather changes.

Chrome Stay Strong... My advice is don't head North not this year to many fires an Not alot of roads to get out.... Your in Terrace when Van issues resolved take the Ferry to Hiada Gwali an Enjoy that area No Fires... Sounds like someone or something is saying North is a No Go this year.. Time to get out of there.. I've put out contacts for you an Van issues in Terrace Hoping to hear back.. STAY STRONG.🌿👍👍🌿

Hang in there Chrome! Get a camp spot with power and re-charge your batteries. Solve one problem at a time. You got this 👊

Follow your intuition Chrome, you are getting clear messages not to go towards the wild fires.
Stay safe, your guides are trying to help you.
Change your plans, don’t go further north once your van is fixed!
I wish you all the best!

life! Just as the roads you travel are dusty, bumpy, and have lots of twists and turns…so does life. Stay calm and enjoy the rest. You’ll be back on the road in no time.

Someone else already commented but pull that inspection cover off the torque converter and check bolts for being loose and also look for cracks. Very easy to do and the minute I heard that noise I went right there. Have seen it before.

I’m a back yard mechanic and my guess is the flex plate has a crack in it and needs replaced! Worst case, best case is torque converter bolt/ bolts are loose see if I’m right? Noise like this increases with load like when you put it in gear!

You have to check the amperage of the fuse. The wire burned instead of the safety measure.

All signs are pointing you back to your shop. Call Lauren, have him meet you there. Just a suggestion. Take care and please be safe.

Loren is in Hungary until 7/26. He's with his family.
Chrome, just hang tight, the pendulum will swing back and all will be well.
That noise in drive and reverse sounds like a piece of a gear or something broke off and is rattling around.

Almost sounds like the front pump in the transmission is trying to go out, however, it could also be the heat shield on the exhaust rattling as well, if it is still there.I thought I heard a few faint whine in the transmission, if it is, that could be a early warning of transmission failure. Pull the dip stick and smell the fluid, see if it smells burnt

I say go to Haida Gwaii. Just make sure to check the ferry schedule and make sure you can get a spot before heading to Rupert. At least it would be somewhere you haven't explored. Its beautiful and theres no smoke or fires and its a bit cooler for cruze. Groceries are more pricy over there so stock up in Terrace or Rupert. Hope things with your van aren't to serious and you don't have to wait too long to get it fixed.

I think your Angels are looking after you by breaking down in this last town.... and you are not broke down with a wild fire breathing down your neck! Yup, Angels are with you two... count your blessings....

Best time to check the oil is when the engine is cool and settles to the bottom. I always check it in the morning before leaving

Hope a mechanic is open on Monday so you can get the noise problem identified and fixed. Safe travels Chrome.
