Family to oppose plea deal for 2 accused of murdering Ahmaud Arbery

Federal prosecutors wrote in late night filings Sunday they've reached plea agreements with Gregory and his son, Travis McMichael, on federal hate crime charges. The two men, along with William "Roddy" Bryan, who recorded the video, are all charged with murder in Arbery's death. They were set to face the federal charges next week.

Ahmaud Arbery was shot and killed on Feb. 23, 2020. Cellphone video leaked to the public shows two armed white men in a truck approaching the 25-year-old Black man as he runs down the road. One of the men, later identified as Travis McMichael, and Arbery struggle over McMichael's shotgun before Arbery is shot and collapses.

I don't agree with giving them club med to serve the first 30 years. They committed a murder and should be made to do the time in a Federal Prison just like everybody else.

Their crime is on video and they were convicted of murder why is a plea bargain necessary? Prosecutors all across the country are offering plea bargains to people who the evidence clearly shows are guilty. I thought plea bargaining was used when the evidence was more circumstantial and there was a possibility a jury might find them not guilty.

Travis's deal has been rejected. Gregory's deal is probably next on the chopping block.

My hero's are the honorable judge Whamsley and Linda Dunikoski and her team, i wish them peace in mind, heart and soul, the case of Georgia v MMS and Bryan was no easy task, I can imagine the stress, peace all

The rules of evidence are explicit in federal court. Ahmaud Arbery's criminal history of larceny, assault, and using jogging as a cover story would be admitted into evidence.
