The fault, according to meteorologists, is the ferocious storms that are heading to the East of the United States. Thunderstorms came to the largest city in South Dakota with strong winds of 93 kilometers per hour and covered with a downpour. About 7 centimeters of precipitation fell in a couple of hours. The network is full of videos on which rain pours a wall, and a hurricane knocks down and fells trees. And yet, the sky, which rarely acquires a shade of green, caused much more delight and discussion. Let's explain everything now.
In fact, the same ominous emerald-colored sky was explained by the staff of the US National Weather Service derecho. The fact is that these shots were shot in the evening, at sunset. As a result, the strange visual effect was the result of light scattering. The reddish color of the setting sun, let's say, reacted with blue water droplets inside thunderclouds. Do you remember what happens when red and blue paints are mixed? That's right, it gets a green tint. So it happened in the USA. So no UFOs, everything is explained by science.
As for the derecho, it is a long series of storms. This is a fairly common phenomenon, which is just typical for summer. In the Northern Hemisphere, derecho occurs in June, July and August. In South Dakota, for example, the wind in places reached 160 kilometers per hour. As a result, more than 28,000 people were left without electricity. It's also important to say that right now the storms are heading for southwest Minnesota and northwest Iowa.

This is better on mute LOL. That is spectacular! I have seen green in the clouds of hail storms. They'll look lime green, sometimes with reddish areas. But nothing of this magnitude, gosh those people must have been scared.
