Rita Bhaduri was known for essaying the role of a mother or grandmother in television and films. She was born on 4 November 1955 in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. She hailed from a middle-class Hindu-Bengali Brahmin family. She remained unmarried, but there was a rumour about her relationship with Navin Nischol.

She had been suffering from the kidney ailment for a long time and was being treated at Mumbai’s Sujay Hospital in Vile Parle. On 17 July 2018, at around 1:45 pm, she took her last breath following a cardiac arrest.
