Literally writing a research report over the effect of poverty on child labor in the cocoa industry in west Africa. My phone is definitely tracking me

Tony's Chocolonely had the exact same problem when they started, it's nice to see that he started working with them as they are experts in the field.

Sorry but almost everything from aluminum to bananas can be traced back to some type of forced labor in other countries

My answer was a lot more detailed, such a shame so much of it was cut so now people don’t understand what I was conveying.

Appreciate the detailed explanation and transparency

Shout-out to Tony’s Chocolonely! It was started by a Dutch journalist who investigated child labor in the cocoa trade. He was so appalled by the big companies’ response—three of them control about 70% of the market, and their excuse was, "We pay market price"—that he decided to take action. Since they dominate the market, they set that price themselves. So, he started his own company and built the supply chain from the ground up, ensuring farmers get a fair wage. And surprise, surprise—it’s not even more expensive than other brands!

Hi frequent Peru traveler here with strong connections in Peru. My best friend in Peru adopted a 11 year old who was forced to work in pineapple fields by his birth mother. He spent hours in the sun getting severely sun burnt and cut up moving around pineapples all day. Afterword this child slept on a dirt floor. In the morning he was told to wake up and get back to work day in and day out. Ultimately there is child labor in Peru. There is also amazing wonderful people in Peru that care about children and do not force their kids to work.

The one plus side of social media and everything being on the internet these days is that companies like this are being held more accountable

Guys this is NOT AI. It’s directly from the oompaville channel interview. The reason it sounds LIKE AI is because they clipped the hell out of this to fit in the Shorts time limit by removing all the dead air and umms and ahhs. Please like this so it gets bumped to the top.

We also forget that in counties like that parents cant feed their children and theres no social services the kids have to do whatever they can to eat and survive we are so blind to what survival looks like.
