Just before I woke this morning I had a dream of my dad and brother > who I never dream of! Ironically it was these two individuals (not my other brother). It was one small scene and then I woke. To hear your message about the parent. I love my dad. My brother and I have always been like oil and water but hearing your reading made me realized WHY I dreamed of them - I always wanted their approval. Still to this day. I don’t get what I search in them (or my other male relationships) >> guess it’s time to give ME the approval I have been seeking. Thank you.

Yeeaaahh so you just gave me a Tower Moment😮. The parent I had the biggest problem with was my mother. I kept on giving her all my time, energy and love in the hopes that she will one day return it. But she never did. And this has been a theme with all my relationships and my TF where I keep giving love and support and time and I end up depleted and alone😔

I recreated my relationship with my mother. My husband is like my mom, and I am bossy like his mom. The dad’s weren’t in the mix. My dad and I bickered once in a while because I am a Virgo and he was a Pisces, so we thought opposite at times. It wasn’t until I moved out that I realized that I was a lot like my Dad.

That is the case oftentimes if you have unhealed wounds from childhood you will either date someone similar to your father and you will think that's how people love or you will run the complete opposite but once you are healed and healthy you will pick a partner who is healthy for you

Wow! You just perfectly explained "like attracts like"! If as you stated, someone keeps avoiding the truth and telling someone they are sweet when they are "toxic", then what i am feeling is both are toxic and both are gaslighted. Each of us has to take responsibility for our own Self. Wow!

I tell him what I think of him when he acts out. He knows I haven’t thought of him in a good light for the past several years. He tries to act out for narc supply but is disappointed because he doesn’t really get much attention. For me to stop being intimate then he knows I think very little of him!
