Fraser's sedge (Carex fraserianus)

Показать описание
Hello pollinators! 🐝
Did you know that Carex fraserianus (formerly Cymophyllus fraseri) attracts insect pollinators with its fragrant white flowers, even though most sedges are wind pollinated? Male and female flowers are produced on beautiful, white inflorescences that ascend on long stalks over its foliage, creating a rare spectacle within the Carex genus.
This unique species was not included in the Carex trial, but it can be found in the naturalistic gardens at Mt. Cuba Center. Look out for it during your next visit!
