A great lesson. Good that there are people who know these games, understand them, and are willing to share their knowledge.

As a Minimalist, positional Chess is a true art, and Capa is an inspiration.

Capablanca was the endgame master! When you go through a lot of his games you get the feeling he was just going through the motions in the opening and the middle game just to reach the endgame and THAT’S when he finally wakes up and goes to work!

Capablanca was possibly the greatest natural chess talent ever. Morphy is maybe the only comparable talent. Unlike modern GMs, Capablanca didn't have chess coaches as a child. Didn't study endless books of master games, such as Fischer and of course, there were no chess engines available. The fact that Capablanca ranks as high as he does on the Computer Aggregated Precision Score without having utilized the tools that so many greats after him did is incredible. Remember, knowledge of chess (studying master games for example) plays a large role in winning.

This truly is a great game. Janowski was no slouch either, he was a WC challenger twice, I think. Capablanca, however, played this like it was 2016, not 1916.

I saw the bishop would be excellent on e4 but I didn't see how that was possible. I didn't consider the pawn sac for the maneuver. Wow. Another excellent commentary!

Very accessible video with solid play-by-play analysis. Got me thinking about how to turn isolated pawns into a strength in future games. Thanks!
