2023 STUDIO TOUR | My 'Do Everything' Recording Drum Set

If I only had one set of drums to cover every session, it would probably be this Ludwig kit along with a wide range of snares, cymbals and accessories to make it as adaptable as possible. Man I love the sound of that 1920's Ludwig 4x14 "Universal", it sounds so freaking good! I also use the True Vibe pads and they make my Black Panther sound better than standard mount! I sometimes run a 14" floor tom to the left of my snare on a backup snare stand, and I use a set of true vibes for it as well!

Good idea on the bearing edges. I believe Ludwig will cut them however you want now. Some of my favorite Ludwigs were the old 6 ply maple/poplar/maple. Sound fat and warm with those rounded edges.

Phenomenal. I have a "shell bank" of Ludwig Classic Maples (White Marine Pearl finish) that way I can pick and choose what stays in the house or comes with me on various sized gigs. The best drums for everything!

Nice video! What are those cymbal resonance mounts you mention at 8:18? We have similar tastes - I love my HHX Complex cymbals and I’ve been using the Tama air ride system and Pearl isolation feet on my floor toms for years. I’ll have to try out those snare isolation mounts you mention here on my gigging snare. Great stuff. Thanks!

Sad to see you left GMS. I just bought a grand master and love it. Ludwig always a solid choice though
