For my fifth DIY project, I built a Colorsound Fuzz Box clone. This one is from 3PDT. While I wasn't impressed with the company (full explanation at the end of the video), the pedal sounds great. It really captures the vibe of the original.

The TRS jack is used to bypass the power. If you'd been able to fit a battery in it, the ground of the battery would connect to the ring portion of the stereo jack (typically used as a the input jack). When you plug in a mono guitar cable, it grounds the internal 9v battery to the rest of the pedal, turning it on. That's a very common thing in guitar pedals, but if you're buying this as your first pedal kit there's ZERO reason to expect you to know that. They really should have explained that.

Oh my. Kids and newbees. However, thank you for making and posting this video. I even enjoyed your stories. You may have learned by now that many builders DIYers don't like the daughter-board for the 3p3t footwsitch. And other things...

I'm just getting started in pedals, but my fuzz doesnt work. So my question is: Do you need to stick to a particular transistor, or does any NPN do?

The TRS jack acts as a power switch when a jack is plugged in, only really useful if you use a battery 🤣

Neat pedal board with the thru-holes & zip ties. May I ask what it is? Thanks

Damn Karen🤣 Daughter boards are not necessarily but only to make it more easy. You can hand wire switches and the rest is also easy to find out or normal.
