The fireball in the background is a staple in the drummers' community.

This is the first time I've heard 1/4, 1/8, and 1/16 notes explained in a way that makes sense to me. I recently found a small tom tom at goodwill, and i bought a snare from Ye Olde Amazon. I've been practicing paradiddles, then got side tracked when I heard some guest musicians come to my school and play djembes and tubanos. I put the drums aside for a bit to play around with some hand drums....I really have a focus problem.
But anywho, thank you for helping me get this sorted in my head!

There's something amazingly cool about watching someone who's skills couldn't even be considered to be in the same universe treat the basics so seriously and deliver them so genuinely. Learning drums has been on my list for a LONG time. I'll get there at some point.

I’ve been drumming for about a year but I still like to watch these types of videos to see if there is anything else I should learn.👍

As a non drummer, this is very helpful also for creating my own patterns on my computer.

I'm 58 going to be 59 here shortly. These videos makes it easier to understand the written notes you see on practice pages and also in the songs you're trying to learn. Keep up the good work.

I loved my drum teacher in the late 90s but imagine being young again now and learning from Samus 😅

Dude that snare reverb is sick AF! It reminds me of the reverb in No excuses by AIC✊️

I've been playing music since I was 14. Hearing 1-e-&-a still cracks me up a little bit even after 16 years, lol

I learned the beats from the carmine appice book in the early 80’s. I met him at his clinic in 85.

I really like this channel. I tap in everyday before I got to work, puts a smile on my face and I learn something too. I just want to share something with everyone. Trilok Gurtu - John McLaughlin - Kai Eckhardt Karpeh (1989) Yes, he's sitting on the floor.

Thank you. My friend plays drums. This sounds really good immediately. I wish this was around when I was obsessing over bands. I learned guitar back then but this looks just as fun.

I use these beats a majority of the time and the best part about them is the versatility with these beats. You can easily make up your own fills, add extra notes to the beat, or if your feeling really saucy, add paradiddles to the disco flipped beat. I tell anyone looking to learn drums to master these beats first, as they are great openers to learning more advanced riffs, one must learn to walk before he can fly. 👍
