500 SUB SPECIAL! ULTRA RARE 1981 OTIS UCL Lifts

Thanks for 500 subscribers! To celebrate, here were some of the last relay controlled Otis lifts in Singapore. The location is shown in the video but please do not state it in the comments.

Originally installed in 1981, all LOPs and both COPs were replaced in the 1990s, with the original indicator above the door becoming unused.

From there the lifts remained original, but in 2021 after a certain point they became unreliable, and the building management arranged to have both lifts replaced in 2022.

They did need it though, as the right lift had rarely ever worked on all my visits. Once, about a month before it got shut down, Otis workers came and got it working for about 10 minutes. Then when I checked back shortly after it was broken again and the workers left. As for the left lift, all indicators have been broken since 2021 even though the lift functions fine still. However, I think a modernisation would have been better than a full replacement, given the tin can quality of new Otis parts(old chassis is far better). In addition this place has been trying to sell en-bloc on a regular basis which would make this replacement a total waste of money.

Anyway, both lifts are now gone. This place has strict security too so don't bother trying to come here.
