Unfortunately a lot of proposals in public for hetero couples can be used to back women into a corner where she risks reputation and safety by saying "no", as well as being blamed for "hurting the man's feelings". And so she's forced into faking a "yes" she doesn't mean. Ive seen men who do this outed as @bu$er$ later, not every time but definitely some of the time.

I think my whole issue with hating on celebrities for not supporting politicians is people are actively rejecting critical thinking. You need to look into political issues on your own; not wait for your favorite celebrity to tell you how you should vote.

Teacher here, unschooling is abuse and we absolutely need to regulate homeschooling more. There definitely should be courses for homeschooling parents to take prior to homeschooling their kids. There needs to be guidelines to keep kids on track with their peers in learning. I'd love it if communities offered more robust homeschooling resources for parents.

While I do agree that most of us spend far too much time on our screens, I don't think screen time tells the whole story. For example, just today I used my phone to spend time with friends I couldn't see in person, do art, research information to help a sick friend, and read a PhD study on mental illness. All of these are things I have been told I should do instead of going on my phone, that I couldn't have done without it

On the topic of phone usage: I have a high number of hours on my phone each day, but those numbers aren’t all sitting and scrolling tiktok. Those numbers are: a YouTube video or a movie playing while I do dishes or clean the house. they’re spent with me forcing my phone to stay on so I can continue looking at a new recipe I’m trying out. They’re spent texting my partner throughout the day and reminding them how much I love them. They’re spent by me holding up a picture of my cats to someone and asking them to look at my cats. They’re Spotify sitting open while I get an essay done. Sometimes I see that high number, and yeah, tiktok and other doomscrolling activities definitely contribute. But if we focus too much on the unproductive hours, we fail to recognize all the times our phones kept us company while we got other things done. A high number of hours spent on your phone isn’t instantly a bad thing, so definitely don’t beat yourself up about it. And sometimes you do just need to doomscroll for a while. It’s ok to do things that aren’t productive a couple times a day!

On Chappell Roan, the only teeny tiny criticism is that she used the "both sides" phrasing and called the Democrats "on the left", other than that she was completely right. Also she has done enough to show what she's about and has backed up her political views with actual activism (donating funds to LGBTQ+ and Palestinian rights orgs and such)

Omg the service dog thing is so real 😭😭 I'm a service dog handler and the fake service dogs drive me absolutely insane!! My dog has gotten lunged at and nearly bitten by fake service dogs and since stores don't let the employees kick those people out they just get away with it it's so bad

It's not unschooling when the things your child does and learns are the same things other children do and learn while still attending school!
They act as if public school kids never go grocery shopping or picking berries in the garden. These children do that simply just... *After* school, rather than *instead of.* As soon as school hours are over, the remainder of the day just doesn't cease to exist all of a sudden.

The whole thing about "not training dogs" is so much worse for small dogs. Like people don't train them to behave because they're small and "can't" hurt someone. But the people who's chihuahuas are always snarling and barking at people do need to be trained. Not to mention how so many people don't bother house breaking their small dogs either 🤢

I feel like dog owners think dogs are "easier" because it's easier to get a dog to love you than a cat. But dogs require so much training, grooming, time and energy. If you are not willing to get a dog trained, don't get one.

DUDE as a woman with an ESA I need I would literally NEVER bring her in places dogs aren't allowed. I've seen people put vests that look like service dog vests except they say "emotional support animal" and I could SCREAM. Also the people that do that stuff are ALWAYS the people with dogs who cannot

there's an odd subset of unschooling called sudbury schools and as a survivor of one i am BEGGING for someone with a platform to talk about them. they project a message of self-directed learning but create an environment where students are threatened with punishment themselves if they don't report their peers. i had to read to ten year olds since they had no interest in teaching basic reading skills. they said "students could learn whenever" but anyone who asked to learn was shut down by the narcissists who were in power (the school was self-governed.) PLEASE ANYONE WHO HAS A PLATFORM IN COMMENTARY TALK ABOUT SUDBURY SCHOOLS for even five minutes.

I feel like no one can be normal about Chappell Roan. Either you’re “over her” already and afford her no grace, or you’re unwilling to acknowledge she needs a PR team she runs her tik toks by before posting them ASAP. I say this as someone who’s been stanning her since January 2023. I hope she takes a break from the concerts and music festivals and figures her stuff out, because I am rooting for her always!
