Miles Morales Suite | Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Original Soundtrack) by Daniel Pemberton

The growth of Miles as a character from last movie felt really rewarding as a massive fan of his journey in the first film, and I felt that the way he grew in this film made him one of my favorite Spideys PERIOD. His refusal to bind to fate and willingness to forge his own path was so emotional and empathetic, and I loved how they've set up his arc for the next film. His theme has evolved as well, thanks in part to the merging of his two motifs. Miles has his own motif, heard in songs like Rio and Miles and Hold the Baby, a three note theme played mainly on solo horn that portrays his longing and emotional burdens of being Spider-Man very very well. Another three note motif associated with him is the main Spider-Man theme, played in tracks like Peter and Mayday Parker and Welcome to Nueva York (Earth-928). It's a simple heroic motif also played on brass, but it's identity is much less vague or interpretative than Miles. I was initially thinking of separating the two themes into their own suites, but they've become so intertwined thematically that it'd be a disservice to Miles' character to do so. His theme reaches to new instrumental territory, thanks to the musical soundscape of places like Mumbattan and Nueva York, but more than the new sounds Miles' theme is crafted in is the emotional heights his theme reaches throughout the score. Whether it's the emitional and harrowing Canon Event, the triumphant and climactic Nueva York Train Chase, or the harrowing and momentous Falling Apart, Miles' theme goes to emotionally dark and devastating places due to the journey he embarks on throughout the film. And I think that Pemberton's theme for Miles and Spider-Man as a whole is on it's way to being cemented as one of my absolute favorite Spider-Man themes if Beyond succeeds in expanding upon his musical identity for the climactic and emotional places that film will probably go. And I have absolute faith that they will.

I really appreciate that despite having so many other versions of Spiderman, twists, or characters, these movies never forget that this is the story of Miles Morales, his relationship with his family, what he likes, what he wants, what led him to this point, if we add the charisma, design, musical theme, what to say? Miles is an Excellent Protagonist and an Excellent Spiderman

I can’t help but feel just so much pain for Miles. He had to endure so much, rejection from his variants, losing his uncle, being abandoned without knowing it, being blamed for everything, being told that he was a mistake and had no place anywhere. He really is the best variant of Spider-Man, not only saving the city but also his family. It’s never about saving the world or anything bigger than that, it’s only about saving the people. That is a true superhero.

Gosh, loved the cut from "Intro" to "Start a Band" and ending with the drum solo from "intro" is the cherry on top.

Also the leitmotif at 18:55 is my favorite. Plays in a lot of the "portal scenes". Any idea what it's called?
