In this video, I talked about my career transition from job to business. Also, I shared why I left high paying job at McKinsey to start my business in India. Moving back to India from abroad, especially moving back to India from USA or moving back to India from Europe is always a risky decision. My journey of leaving high paying job without another one to start a business in India can help you understand the challenges, risks, and rewards associated with career change, job change, and industry switch or domain change

Job vs Business is a constant debate on social media. For me the choice between job vs business was based on various considerations I had made looking at the preferences of my family, relatives, friends, and myself. The reason why I left a high paying job to move back to India from USA is rooted in these aspects which everyone should consider before going for job change, industry change, country change, or domain change. I left my job to start a business in India because I had the support of my family. Other factors that helped me in leaving my high paying job in USA to come back to India are mentioned in the video.

I left my job without another one, but not without a plan. My decision to move back to India from USA was based after I thought about the worst case scenarios and also understanding what was necessary to be done in the future. The job vs Startup world shows a great contrast between responsibilities, workload, priorities, and lifestyle among other things. This career change from Management Consulting at McKinsey USA to building an Education Startup in India was a huge one for me. The corporate jobs tips I shared in this video should be used by anyone as career change tips or domain change tips if they are also looking to quit their job and get into something else.

No number of corporate career tips can prepare you for a career change unless and until you consider how it is going to personally impact you. I quit McKinsey Consultant job to move back to India from USA because I wanted to do something more meaningful. Why I quit McKinsey is not as important as how I prepared myself to quit a high paying job to start a business. Why I left consulting was mostly based on my personal preferences, but for anyone looking for career change tips, the steps I have highlighted in the video should be on your mind before you quit your job to start a business or quit your job for another job.

Hope these corproate career tips add value to your IT Career or Tech Career. Amid layoffs 2024, the options for IT employees and Tech employees have become too few and far in between. However, as an IT employee or Tech employee you should always look out for what are the best opportunities for you out there and work towards your goals with those opportunities in mind. Follow the channel for regular corporate career tips, career growth tips, layoffs 2024 news, IT Industry news, Tech News, and reality of corporate job and reality of IT industry videos. One more point to not settle abroad is in India crime rate is low as compared to USA. Also you will not find druggies on roads in India like western countries.

Hello Sir,

I have recently came across your content on youtube and aligns very much with your analysis especially on the IT industry work culture.

Thankyou so much for bringing these topics to mass attention, this was highly needed.

I am right now serving as a QA Manager in TechM with almost 14 years of experience.

I am thinking to leave the IT and start a professional coaching center in my small city Jammu (J&K) that will be focused on providing some courses like Automation testing (which i have an expertise in majorly).
My target audience would be the collage undergrads from 3 engineering collages we have in my area.

Please suggest me if this could be a good full time career scope or it can just act more like a part time or side job only.

Waiting for your valuable suggestions.

Great video and perfect timing as I’m at the point of making a similar decision. The runway of 3 years is a great cushion, could you create a video on the challenges when you faced and the indicators that kept you going during this start up phase.

Sir please reply 🙏

Sir I am currently working as sub inspector in up police…I have worked in Infosys for 4.8 years as manual tester..my age is 27…I’m am satisfied with my job but salary is less(60k per month) as compared to my corporate friends(20lpa)…would making a switch to IT for earning more money be a wise idea?(I am not passionate about coding and all but want to earn good money)…and till what age I’ll be able to work in IT sector….i’ll work as DSP in last 15 years of my career if I stayed in government job.

Hey Pavan,
I believe I am currently at the phase of my life, you were in 2019. I feel like I am entering the phase 2 of my life.
After 10+ years of successful corporate career in UK, USA and Canada, currently I am feeling I am lost.
Not enjoying my day to day things despite of earning good money and all heat of corporate reality is on me..
Want to start a second career in Finance industry and then want to spina new start up..
But how to gather courage as I am now used to with this comfort of golden handcuffs of corporate world...?

Hi Pawan, do you still suggest for Indian middle class student to pursue master in US and get a job which pays 75000 dollars? It is worth the risk?!
