Of course this is a more adult movie. Kids today don't really play with Barbies. This is clearly aiming at people who actually played with them, and those people are now adults.

I guess the big question is why are people who are so so negative even posting anything? Just scroll on by. Children have been playing with Barbies since 1959. This looks fun- let it go. Not everything has to be dark and deep to provide entertainment. A little escapism can be quite welcomed.

I have tremendous respect for the talents of the people involved in this, especially Greta Gerwig, whose version of Little Women was one of the best movies I've seen in a decade--and I'm a (mostly) unsentimental 60-year old man.

But I don't see how this premise can be extended to feature length scale, even by people this talented. The un-clever "beach off" scene seems like a very bad omen.
