Confession: American here who didn’t know what a tea dress was.

After watching one of your videos late last summer, I had the opportunity to work a concert at a winery. Talk about a great place to see all shapes and sizes of women in their individual dress choices. I had just watched one of your videos, so every time I noticed a woman who looked beautiful in a dress, I took note of the dress style. Hands down the most flattering style, regardless of height or body type, was the tea dress. Not that I doubted you, but it was nice to go out, field test your advice in the wild, and prove your statement in one afternoon. 😊

Thanks do much for this video. I have trouble buying for a wardrobe. This has definitely helped me understand the process. Keep them coming!

I'd add a white button down shirt or blouse to this set of fashion tips.

I’m loving these videos 🌸🌸I’m just revamping my wardrobe and all these tips are so helpful . I recently started buying very pretty tops and pairing them with simple slimming black pants and I’m finding it so easy to just put an outfit together quickly . I can look nice even if I’m just going to get groceries . I’m choosing tops with unusual cuts but are extremely feminine . Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦

Adding a small amount of salt, when you first wash jeans, etc, will help set the dye.
I have all the pieces. 😁

Good list.
One of my "tea dresses" is red. Definitely gets compliments.
I'm one of the can't wear navy, indigo, denim population. Thankfully black looks fabulous.

I am in the US and I wore a white tea length dress for my wedding. Being just two months shy of my 30 birthday, I felt all those frilly, long, wedding trains were rediculous for my age. It is still one of my favorite styles to go to.

Your explanation how slightly apple shaped women can wear a tea dress were very helpful for me. I like wearing dresses and up to now I have been mainly wearing shirt dresses, but I think I will try more tea dresses in future.

Some great ideas, I have already bought 2 tea dresses and some wide and some straight trousers, for wearing when i go to friends for the evening or away on holiday. However, sad to say, a lot of things would not work where I live, in a mountainous area, need a hood all the time, as weather can change within minutes, also everyone is totally casual around me. A silk shirt, a leather jacket, a dressy handbag and loafers, definately no way they would ever get worn here! I admire your videos, but a lot of advice online, does seem to assume that we all live in cities and wear smart clothes all the time. It would be great to see more videos which address us who live in deeply rural areas. Balancing the weather with style, and casual living, we really need more help.

I’m not interested in creating a capsule wardrobe as I’ve recently lost 80 pds. due to a health issue so I have opportunity to create an entirely new wardrobe. I’m being very mindful and selective with my purchases, focusing on classics and quality. Small amounts of fast fashion but quality fast fashion (Halara). Cottons, wools, silks and cashmere. Vintage if it’s in good shape. I’m so tired of filling bags with donations and how much it contributes to landfills etc. Thrilled to have a reasonable wardrobe that is exciting to wear. Your tips have been very helpful.

I have hyper-sensitive skin with allergies to plastics, which means no synthetic fibers, even in blends. So, I wear silk every chance I get - it’s the only fiber that neither irritates my skin nor is too hot, like cotton candy be on me. I overheat a lot, so I have a double-problem. If US-based, Quince has a great, very affordable, selection of silk clothing. (I don’t think they ship to other countries, but the prices will still be good with the tariffs, unavoidable even if they did ship directly, and the package-forwarding service fees. No other fiber/fabric even comes close to the sublime comfort of silk, it’s simply in a class of its own. It’s the next best thing to, and feels like, wearing nothing at all, but you won’t get arrested! It resists dirt and odors, doesn’t wrinkle readily and any wrinkles just fall out*, is super-lightweight and compact, breathable and temperature-regulating, and dries super-fast after washing - which it rarely needs. It’s well worth the extra money, just buy fewer items. *After an initial ironing or steaming (or even just spraying with water - my lazy method), to remove sharp packing/shipping creases. It’s washable - I ignore all those dry-cleaning instructions unless it’s a structured item with those non-washable interfacings, etc., like a blazer. (No brand affiliations).

Some of these links lead to different items on the US-version websites. Usually, unless you link to the item on the US website, links to items on UK or EU websites won’t work. Especially to M&S, they never have anything on their US website that is linked from the UK website (the selection here is tiny). I have tried dozens of times and never could get a single thing. You should be aware of this because it will reduce the commissions you should be receiving, as well as causing frustration for us US viewers/shoppers.🙂

I almost always do the reverse - I wear lighter colors on the bottom half and darker ones, or prints, on the top half. I don’t have to worry about “visually slimming” my hips, thighs and derrière, they’re too skinny as it is. I think that light-colored, especially white, bottoms are so much more chic than the expected black or navy ones.🙂

I am sorry, I need to take a self esteem recovery break. I followed the link to the first dress and it was only available in sizes up to 10! That is mean!

Petite lady here. Button downs just don’t work for me at all. They feel overwhelming.
